Can we kill God?
A person that claimed to be Jew from the tribe of Gad during Holy Week, he said that Friday, he will celebrate Passover. Passover starts on Good Friday sundown. His race was black with dreadlocks and older person. He believes in Jesus, but he did not believe He is God. He called Him Josuah. That is His Hebrew name I told him, translated to English is Jesus. He asked can you kill God? The answer is no; you cannot kill God. He knew Jesus died; therefore, He is not God. I shared with him what is in the Gospels, John the Baptist said Behold the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. and Jesus rose from the dead by His own Power. He said that is your beliefs. He was walking away and I mentioned that Jesus is True God and True man. Check Isaiah and other prophets.
Let address his question according to facts. Can we kill God? The fact is: no, we cannot kill God. However, he missed who Jesus is. The fact is Jesus was the Word of God and the Word was God, as Gospel of St John said, John 1:1. The Word became flesh and dwelled among us. God became man, so Jesus is True God and True man. He was the same as us except no sin, Hb 4:15. Jesus is a Divine Person, One God, three Persons: Most Holy Trinity. All were created by Them, the visible and invisible. In the Old Testament that the Jews believe, it said that God will save us. We can read that in Exequiel, Jeremiah, Psalms and others. The Gospels talk about facts. Why did they kill Jesus? He said your sins are forgiven. Jews said only God can forgive sins. He said before Abraham was I Am. I Am is mentioned many times by Jesus. That the same words that God told Moses in the burning bush when Moses asked what God’s name is. He said tell them I Am sent you. Jesus said the Father and I are one. The Jews wanted to stone Him because He called Himself God. They condemned Him to death for blasphemy: calling Himself God.
The difference between Jesus and us besides He has no sin, is that He has two natures united in Hypostatic union, Divine nature-True God, and human nature-True Man. We have only human nature; we are not God. As God said in Isaiah 55, your ways are not my ways, your thoughts as not my thoughts. Jesus revealed who He is by words and works-miracles. The Jews try to explain in human rational way, but God ways are beyond human understanding as we see the miracles. We know dead, stay dead. However, Jesus performed miracles and even the Jew saw that, Jesus rose Lazarus from the dead. The evidence Jesus is God, the Jews wanted to kill the evidence. It shows how much they were guided by Satan, with pride, no humble. Jesus is risen; we have a lot of witnesses and a bunch of miracles up to now. It happens in the Church founded by God, Jesus is God, the Catholic Church. We say Mary is the Mother of God.
In Good Friday, God was killed, why? Because Jesus is true Man, so He died besides being True God, that is the fact. Remember, we only have one nature: human, we will die. Jesus has the human nature too, so He died but at the same time, He is True God, with a Divine nature. That is why we call Jesus a Divine Person, no human person. We are human persons. At the time of death, Jesus did not stop being God. That is why He died on a cross once for all, bloody sacrifice but being God who is in eternity, we celebrate the Mass, the unbloody sacrifice, going back to Calvary. It is a fact and a mystery-miracle. When, we understand what happened during the Mass.
